Slow Cooker Beef Stew

A stew made in the slow cooker is great! The extra time without needing to tend to it gives you time to work on other recipes while the flavours develop.

This recipe is the result of various experiments to produce the best winter warming stew. Allow for overnight marinating of the meat.

This hearty, spicy beef stew is only for those that can handle the heat. I prefer to make it in the slow cooker, but it can be made on the stove top also. Great served over mashed potatoes or rice.

Cook in a crock pot and you have a delicious stew that kids love. Left overs can be used to make pies,

This is one of my favourite easy beef stew dinners! The stout beer really adds a dimension to the flavour. Serve with mashed potatoes.

This is a really rich and luxurious stew that is deceptively simple to make. As with any stew, this is even better the next day - I like to make it on Sunday ready for some much needed Monday comfort. It's beyond perfect with mash and a little crusty bread to mop up all the delicious juices.

A lovely dish that is easy to make and tastes great. Brown the meat first as this gives it flavour a slow cooker just cannot achieve.

Slow cookers make stews very easy. Just remember that every time you lift the lid of the slow cooker you increase the cooking time by 20 minutes!

I love the smell throughout the house of food cooking. This slowed cooked beef stew does that as I kick back and wait for the beef and vegetables to be cooked to perfection.

A rich beef stew cooked in a whisky flavoured sauce with potatoes and mushrooms. Made in a slow cooker but you could also cook on the stovetop or in the oven.

This Jewish beef and bean stew, called cholent, is made ahead in the slow cooker so that it can be eaten on the Sabbath when cooking is forbidden.
