It's done in a rice cooker rather than the stove.

Serves: 2 

  • 1 cup (90g) quick oats
  • 1 cup (250ml) water
  • 1 cup (250ml) milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:20min 

  1. Place all of the ingredients in the rice cooker and stir.
  2. Turn the rice cooker on and cook for around 10-15 minutes.
  3. Serve warm :).

I love oatmeal, so, I thought I would give this method a try. I did use a little less water and milk than listed because I thought it would be thin. I would not try this method in future because it only takes about 5 minutes on the stovetop instead of the 15 minutes it took me in the rice cooker. - 27 May 2013
