Chocolate Bar Cookies

    Delicious biscuits made with chocolate chips, grated block chocolate and chopped nuts. For the chocolate lover!

    Serves: 20 

    • 2 1/2 cups (375g) oatmeal
    • 250g butter, softened
    • 1 cup (155g) brown sugar
    • 1 cups (220g) white sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 375g chocolate chips
    • 2 cups (250g) plain flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 block (250g) milk chocolate-like Cadburys Milk block, grated
    • 1 1/2 cups (185g) chopped nuts

    1. Blend the oatmeal in a blender till it’s a fine powder.
    2. In a large bowl cream the butter and both sugars. Add the eggs and vanilla, then add the flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and bicarb soda.
    3. Stir in the chocolate chips, grated chocolate block and nuts, if using.
    4. Roll into balls, and place 5cm apart on a baking sheet.
    5. Bake for 10 minutes at 180 degrees C.

    These biscuits are amazing! Really chewy and tasty, although I didn't quite stick to the recipe as I ran out of oatmeal so used oats instead and also only had 100g chocolate.  -  26 Mar 2011  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
