The Pie Floater is a South Australian dish originally sold in horse drawn carts in Adelaide since the 1870s but the popularity has declined in past decades.
4 meat pies
1 can of pea soup
tomato sauce (optional)
- Cook the soup and pies according to directions.
- Ladle the soup evenly into four separate bowls.
- Place a pie on the soup. Add sauce.
This is still my father's favourite way to eat pie - fear not, the tradition is not entirely gone!
