Pressure Cooker Hungarian Goulash
This is an easy goulash that is cooked in a pressure cooker making it quick and easy too. Serve with boiled or mashed potatoes.
Ingredients

- 2 onions, quartered
- 150g ham, diced
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1kg beef, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 6 1/2 cups water
- 3 teaspoons beef stock powder
- 3 teaspoons vegetable stock powder
- 2 tablespoons ground paprika
- 2 large bay leaves
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 tablespoons plain flour

- Cook onions and ham in oil until onion is glassy then remove from frypan.
- Brown beef in small portions. Once cooked replace onions and ham then add garlic; cook for 5 minutes.
- Add 5 1/2 cups water, stock powder, ground paprika, bay leaves and tomato paste. Cook for 50 minutes in a pressure cooker.
- Dissolve flour in 1 cup of water and stir slowly into goulash to thicken.
- Cook a further 5 minutes, remove bay leaves and serve over boiled potatoes or mashed potatoes.

Tasted good. Problems: 1. 20m end-to-end time listed, but 50m cooking in the instructions. 50m was fine, but too much in comparison with similar recipes. 30m also works, I suspect 10-20 would also be the same. 2. 6.5 cups of water, plus all the other moisture, produced too much liquid. Tasty meatless soup was nice, but I'd prefer more of a sauce than soup. - 27 Jul 2014
