Baked Macaroni with Ham and Cheese

A cheesy macaroni bake that uses edam and cheddar cheese along with ham and nutmeg to flavour the dish.


Serves: 4 

  • 250g elbow macaroni
  • 250g ham, diced
  • 100g edam cheese, grated
  • 150g cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • pinch salt and pepper
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup (250ml) milk

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:1hour 

  1. Bring salted water to the boil then add macaroni. Cook for 10 minutes until al dente; do not overcook as cooking will continue while baking.
  2. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
  3. Drain pasta, put in a bowl, add diced ham, grated cheeses, grated nutmeg, pepper and salt; mix well.
  4. Spray baking dish lightly with canola oil.
  5. Place mixed pasta into baking dish.
  6. In another bowl whisk eggs and milk; pour on top of pasta mixture. Make sure all pasta submerged in egg mixture.
  7. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 40 minutes until firm.
  8. Stand for 5 minutes before slicing, pasta will become firmer while cooling.
