Easiest Mushroom Sauce Ever

    An excellent sauce for steaks that is fast, easy and extremely tasty. It only takes a few minutes to make so prepare it at the last minute and use straightaway.

    Serves: 10 

    • 20g butter
    • 200g button mushrooms, sliced
    • 300ml cream
    • 1 beef stock cube

    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:10min 

    1. In a small saucepan melt butter and fry mushrooms on a medium heat for 4-5 minutes.
    2. Turn the heat to low then add the cream and the stock cube; heat through.
    3. Be careful not to overcook as this may cause the cream to split and appear oily. Serve immediately.

    Well I thought this was lovely. I didn't weigh the mushrooms so just added the cream gradually, probably used about 200ml for the amount of mushrooms I had. Served over loin lamb chops and it was delicious.  -  03 Dec 2012


    Something else. Cooked it longer to reduce the cream to more usual sauce consistency.  -  27 Nov 2010
