The Best BLT

    10 minutes

I made this BLT with a few things I had sitting around but it's the spicy bacon that takes it up to the next level! You can add mayonnaise or tomato sauce as well.

    20 people made this

    Serves: 1

    • 1 rasher of bacon
    • 1 teaspoon of mustard powder
    • 1 teaspoon of curry powder
    • 1 teaspoon chilli flakes
    • 2 slices of bread, toasted
    • 2-4 slices of fresh tomato
    • lettuce leaves

    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:10min

    1. Place bacon in a frypan on medium heat. Mix together the mustard powder, curry powder and chilli flakes. As soon as you turn the bacon over, sprinkle the spice mixture onto the cooked side of the bacon.
    2. Butter the toasted bread and place the lettuce and tomato onto one slice then top with the seasoned cooked bacon. Top with the other slice of toasted bread.

Will stick with the traditional BLT.  -  29 Mar 2004  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

Had this for brunch. Wasn't too thrilled with the red pepper flakes and the mustard...I think I will stay with my more traditional blt. Thanks for the post.  -  01 Jun 2004  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)

I admit I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to spiciness, but 1 tsp of red pepper flakes was way too much for me. I didn't use that much curry either. This tasted ok, but I don't think it was the 'best BLT' at all. Thanks anyway.  -  10 May 2006  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
