Rumaki is a Hawaiian entree made of water chestnuts that are marinated in teriyaki sauce then wrapped in streaky bacon then baked until crispy and delicious.

Serves: 24 

  • 2 (220g) tins whole water chestnuts
  • 450ml teriyaki sauce
  • 450g streaky bacon

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:2hours marinating  ›  Ready in:2hours35min 

  1. Drain chestnuts then place them in a bowl. Cover chestnuts with teriyaki sauce then marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours or more.
  2. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  3. Remove water chestnuts from refrigerator and drain well. Cut bacon strips in half so that strips are about 8cm long. Wrap each chestnut with bacon then secure with a toothpick.
  4. Arrange all wrapped chestnuts on a baking tray. Cook in oven until bacon is crispy. Remove from oven and enjoy.
