This is a great dish with a Weetbix and cheese topping gives the dish a crunchy /nutty taste. My whole family loves it.


Serves: 4 

  • 225g small pasta e.g. shells, penne, farfalle, uncooked
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 3/4 cup (190ml) milk
  • 1 large (425g) tin of tuna
  • 250g peas (fresh, frozen, canned)
  • 3 Weetbix biscuits, crushed
  • 1/2 cup (50g) grated cheese

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Extra time:10min  ›  Ready in:50min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a medium sized casserole dish. Cook the pasta as directed, drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter, add flour and cook over med heat for approx 1 minute. Add the milk a little at a time, stirring continuously, until the sauce thickens. Mix in the tuna and peas.
  3. Place the cooked pasta into the casserole dish and pour the tuna sauce mixture over them. Mix together then then top with crushed Weetbix and cheese.
  4. Bake till cheese is melted and browned, about 20 mins.

My 2 & 5 year gobbled it up and my husband also enjoyed it. It was quite a dry sauce so if you like it saucy I would double the white sauce ingredients. It was a cheap & easy dish to make. - 19 Jan 2009
