    This is a tasty beef casserole is flavoured with your favourite beer and cooked on top of the stove.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 250g chuck steak, cubed
    • 4 bacon rashers, diced
    • 1 brown onion, chopped
    • 1 clove garlic, chopped
    • 1 large carrot., diced
    • 1 tablespoon flour
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 1 teaspoon thyme
    • 1 cup beef stock
    • 1 stubbie of beer
    • 4 chopped mushrooms
    • 1 tablespoon honey

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour20min 

    1. Heat oil in a large frypan or heavy pot on a medium heat. Fry the chuck steak till browned all over then remove from pan.
    2. Brown onion, garlic, bacon, and carrot in the same oil. Add flour, tomato paste & thyme. Cook for 5 mins. Return beef to pan & add beef stock, beer, mushrooms and honey.
    3. Cover and simmer for 45mins till thick and meat & carrots are tender.

    Used different ingredients. Didn't have tomato paste so used tomato sauce instead and also forgot the beer so had one cup of red wine. - 20 Jul 2010
