I make this at least twice when blueberries are in season and not too pricey. Makes a great coffeecake or dessert.

Serves: 4 

  • 150g sugar
  • 50g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 2 cups (250g) flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 300g fresh blueberries
  • For topping
  • 100g sugar
  • 40g flour
  • pinch ground cinnamon
  • 60g butter, softened

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min 

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Cream together 150g sugar, butter and egg.
  2. In a separate bowl mix together 2 cups flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into sugar mixture, alternating with milk. Stir in blueberries. Pour into greased 23cm square pan.
  3. To make topping: Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon and butter. Sprinkle over cake batter.
  4. Bake at 190 degrees C for 25-30 minutes.
