This is a simple dessert recipe to make on your next camping trip; cored apples are filled with brown sugar and cinnamon then wrapped in foil and baked in the campfire coals.

Mike Prawdzik

Ingredients
Serves: 1

  • 1 apple, cored
  • 1 tablespoon soft dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions
Preparation:2min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:12min

  1. Fill the core of the apple with the brown sugar and cinnamon. Wrap the apple in a large piece of foil, twisting the extra foil into a tail for a handle.
  2. Place the apple in the coals of a fire or barbecue and let cook 5 to 10 minutes, until softened. Remove and unwrap, being careful of the hot sugar.

This is similar to the recipe I used as a kid, very yummy. My Scouts use mini mars bars to stuff their apples now, haven't had any complaints yet! - 25 Nov 2012

Altered ingredient amounts. Added chopped butter and chopped fresh ginger to the brown sugar and cinnamon. Poured a little bit of lemon juice over the apples in the foil. - 17 May 2009
