This is a simple dessert recipe to make on your next camping trip; cored apples are filled with brown sugar and cinnamon then wrapped in foil and baked in the campfire coals.
1 apple, cored
1 tablespoon soft dark brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Fill the core of the apple with the brown sugar and cinnamon. Wrap the apple in a large piece of foil, twisting the extra foil into a tail for a handle.
- Place the apple in the coals of a fire or barbecue and let cook 5 to 10 minutes, until softened. Remove and unwrap, being careful of the hot sugar.
added a few drops of liquer & wrapped in puff pastry brushed with egg-wash then baked in oven until golden brown.

This is similar to the recipe I used as a kid, very yummy. My Scouts use mini mars bars to stuff their apples now, haven't had any complaints yet!

Altered ingredient amounts.
Added chopped butter and chopped fresh ginger to the brown sugar and cinnamon. Poured a little bit of lemon juice over the apples in the foil.
