Guacamole with Chilli

Guacamole does not normally contain chilli, but this one does! Try it, it's a great change and very addictive.

Serves: 8 

  • 2 roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
  • 1 red capsicum, seeded and diced
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red chilli, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
  • pinch of salt
  • 2/3 cup natural low-fat yoghurt
  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 2 large ripe avocados, peeled and stoned
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons lime juice
  • To serve
  • corn chips or vegetable crudités

  1. Combine the tomatoes, capsicum, onion, chilli, garlic and coriander in a large bowl and season with a pinch of salt.
  2. Mix together the yoghurt and sour cream. Mash the avocado flesh with a potato masher or large fork until almost smooth, but still a little chunky. Sprinkle with the lime juice to prevent the avocado from discolouring, then stir it into the yoghurt mixture.
  3. Fold in the tomato mixture. Keep covered with plastic wrap until ready to serve. Serve with corn chips or crudités.

I did cut way back on the yogurt and sour cream adding two tablespoons each. I really like the heat delivered by the red chile. - 06 May 2013
