Balsamic Strawberries with Pepper

    The only way to eat strawberries as far as I am concerned! Balsamic vinegar and a little pepper really bring out the unique taste of this summer fruit.

    Serves: 6 

    • 500g fresh strawberries, hulled, halved
    • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    • 1/3 cup (75g) caster sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

    1. Place strawberries in a medium bowl. Drizzle vinegar over strawberries and sprinkle with sugar. Stir gently to combine. Cover; stand at room temperature for at least 1 hour, but not more than 4 hours. Just before serving, grind pepper over berries.

    Gotta admit, the only reason I tried this is because I didn't believe that strawberries with balsamic vinegar and pepper would taste right. Boy was I wrong!
