    A simple cake with flour, butter, sugar and cocoa that is layered with a creamy chocolate spread like Nutella. Cut in slices then drizzled with melted Nutella.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6 

    • 130g butter, softened
    • 180g caster sugar
    • 2 medium eggs
    • 300g self-raising flour
    • 6 tablespoons (50g) cocoa powder
    • 200ml milk
    • 350g chocolate spread, like Nutella(TM)

    Directions
    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour10min  ›  Ready in:1hour25min 

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Line or flour and grease a 20cm round cake tin.
    2. Cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs. Sift flour and cocoa together into bowl and fold in alternately with milk. Pour into cake tin and bake for 1 hour and 10 mins or until skewer comes out clean.
    3. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack. Slice into 3 layers and fill layers with chocolate spread. Heat remaining spread for the sauce and pour over your slice of cake.

    Very tasty, but I'd recommend checking cake after 45mins, it can dry out quite quicky. Added whipped cream to layers for a childs birthday cake and it was very good.  -  08 Aug 2012  (Review from Allrecipes UK & Ireland)
