Popcorn and Peanut Cake

    Fun 'cake' for kids parties! Smarties, popcorn and peanuts held together by melted butter and marshmallows.

    Serves: 16 

    • 185g cooked popcorn
    • 500g Smarties(TM)
    • 1 cup (155g) shelled unsalted peanuts
    • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
    • 125g butter
    • 500g marshmallows

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. Mix popcorn, Smarties and peanuts in large bowl.
    2. Heat oil, butter and marshmallows in a saucepan until melted. Pour over popcorn and blend together with a wooden spoon or hands.
    3. Grease a ring tin well. Press mixture lightly into the pan and refrigerate until mixture becomes firm.
    4. To remove the cake, put tin in warm water, then turn upside-down onto a serving plate, shake gently to release the cake.

    Altered ingredient amounts. Good stuff! I ommitted the nuts. Very "pretty" and I also lightly salted the popcorn and maybe next time I will try using hundreds and thousands instead of the chocolates  -  21 Jul 2008


    Made it more kid friendly. take away peanuts then add skittle and a subsitute for peanuts  -  05 Sep 2009


    Everyone loved this. It made a lot more than my tin would hold, so maybe have another tin ready when you mix it. I WILL be making this again.  -  21 Jul 2008
