Popcorn and Peanut Cake
Fun 'cake' for kids parties! Smarties, popcorn and peanuts held together by melted butter and marshmallows.

- 185g cooked popcorn
- 500g Smarties(TM)
- 1 cup (155g) shelled unsalted peanuts
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 125g butter
- 500g marshmallows

- Mix popcorn, Smarties and peanuts in large bowl.
- Heat oil, butter and marshmallows in a saucepan until melted. Pour over popcorn and blend together with a wooden spoon or hands.
- Grease a ring tin well. Press mixture lightly into the pan and refrigerate until mixture becomes firm.
- To remove the cake, put tin in warm water, then turn upside-down onto a serving plate, shake gently to release the cake.

Altered ingredient amounts. Good stuff! I ommitted the nuts. Very "pretty" and I also lightly salted the popcorn and maybe next time I will try using hundreds and thousands instead of the chocolates - 21 Jul 2008
Made it more kid friendly. take away peanuts then add skittle and a subsitute for peanuts - 05 Sep 2009
Everyone loved this. It made a lot more than my tin would hold, so maybe have another tin ready when you mix it. I WILL be making this again. - 21 Jul 2008
