    These are great little snacks at work or at home. You can use sultanas instead of chocolate if you want.

    Serves: 4 

    • 125g butter
    • 30g caster sugar
    • 5 tablespoons golden syrup
    • 220g oats
    • 150g milk chocolate

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Extra time:1hour chilling  ›  Ready in:1hour20min 

    1. In a large non-metallic bowl, melt the butter and sugar together in the microwave. Stir in the syrup using a hot spoon (to prevent sticking). Stir in the oats. Microwave on high for about 3 minutes (depending on the power).
    2. Spread mixture on the bottom of a lightly greased baking dish. Break the chocolate into pieces and melt in the microwave, keeping a close eye that it doesn't burn.
    3. Spread chocolate on top of oat mixture and leave to cool in the refrigerator until set. Cut into squares.

    These came out pretty good. I did have to add an extra 1/2 cup of oats as they were too "soupy" without it. - 28 May 2013
