    Serves: 8

    • 1 chocolate cake
    • 1 packet vanilla instant pudding

    Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Extra time:1hour chilling  ›  Ready in:2hours

    1. Make the cake as per the recipe's instructions.
    2. When the cake is cool use a wooden spoon handle to poke holes in it at even intervals.
    3. Make the pudding and let it slightly thicken, careful as it sets quick and it needs to be runny to get into the poke holes.
    4. Pour the pudding over the cake and into the holes, allowing a little to stay on the top like a frosting.
    5. Refrigerate until the pudding has set then slice to serve.

    Variation in the Outcome

There are a lot of factors that can effect the outcome and you may want to experiment with different combinations to get the effect you want.
    - Firm cake such as pound cake vs soft cake like a sponge cake
    - The thinkness of the pudding effects how much pudding goes in the holes
    - Size of the poke holes

    Mix it Up

There are a multitude of flavour combinations you can make with this concept, pretty much any cake and any pudding can be combined.

I've made this recipe, and we enjoyed it and I would like to share a tip. Make the pudding first and put in fridge to set. Make your cake, cool, and poke your holes. Using a piping bag, fill with half the pudding mix and pipe in each hole then "frost" with remaining pudding.  -  04 Jun 2017
