Veal and Pork Spaghetti Bolognese

    I have made this recipe many times and it always turns out nice. The veal and pork combination make a great bolognese.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 onion, diced
    • 3 cloves garlic, diced
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 500g veal and pork mince
    • 2 rashers bacon, diced
    • 1/2 cup red wine
    • 1 (810g) tin chopped tomatoes
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 1/2 fresh red chilli, diced, optional
    • 500ml beef or chicken stock

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Fry the onion and garlic on a medium/low heat in olive oil until soft, put to one side.
    2. Brown meat in batches over high/medium heat.
    3. Return the onion and garlic to the pan then pour in the wine, and bring to the boil then simmer for about 1 minute until the wine has reduced by half.
    4. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, chilli and stock then simmer gently for at least an hour.
    5. Serve with spaghetti and fresh Parmesan cheese


    You can add vegetables like mushrooms, carrot and celery.
