Although these chicken drumsticks are finished on the BBQ they are actually already fully cooked before they even get out the house, which is a great idea because I am always paranoid of not fully cooking a piece of chicken and poisoning someone.
Inside Cook: In a slow cooker on high or oven on very low, combine the chicken drumsticks, BBQ sauce, butter and apricot juice. Cook for 2 hours after the butter is fully melted or until cooked through. Check towards the end of cooking, you want the chicken to be soft and almost falling off the bone, but not actually falling off the bone or you wont be able to finish it on the BBQ.
Outside Cook: Combine the BBQ sauce and apricot juice and warm slightly.
Dip the chicken in the sauce to create a glaze. Finish on the BBQ at a moderate to hot temperature, the sauce should set and the sugar in the juice create a sweet caramelization flavour.
