    Ingredients
    Makes: 12 empanada pastry discs

    • 250g plain flour, sifted
    • 50g butter, chilled and cubed
    • 1 egg
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 90ml warm water

    Directions
    Preparation:15min  ›  Extra time:30min  ›  Ready in:45min

    1. Place sifted flour in the food processor with chilled butter. Pulse until mixture forms crumbs. Add egg and pulse until just combined.
    2. Dissolve salt in warm water. Add gradually to the food processor and pulse until a soft pastry dough ball is formed.
    3. Turn into a bowl and wrap tightly with plastic wrap then chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
    4. Flour a work surface then knead the dough for 1 minute. Roll out to a thickness of 2mm then cut into discs. At this stage you can freeze the discs for later use, or use right away for your favourite sweet or savoury empanadas.

I made recipe, but added 1 tsp. Baking powder. The dough turned out to be just a little bit more flaky, which I really liked. Other than that it's a great recipe.  -  26 Feb 2019  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
