    My family loves hob nob biscuits and the variants I make. The recipe is very easy to follow and I often jazz it up by adding raisins or chopped mixed nuts or mixed peel or chocolate chips at the mixing stage of the recipe. The family's favourite hob nob variant is raisin and chopped mixed nuts.

    Makes: 25 to 30 biscuits

    • 150g self raising flour
    • 150g caster sugar
    • 120g rolled oats
    • 1 level teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 150g butter
    • 1 large dessertspoon golden syrup

    1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
    2. Put into a mixing bowl the flour, sugar, oats and bicarb then mix together.
    3. In a small saucepan melt the butter on a low heat then add the golden syrup and mix. Pour into the dry mixture and mix well. Divide the mix into 25 to 30 balls and place on the baking tray.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes. I always check the biscuits at the 10 minute point. The biscuits are cooked when they have turned golden brown.
    5. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack to cool. Make a cup of tea and enjoy it with a freshly baked hob nob biscuit.
