    A delicious and satisfying split pea soup with bacon and sausage. Split peas soaked overnight are the best.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6 

    • 2 cups split peas, soaked overnight
    • 1 bunch carrots, diced
    • 4-5 potatoes, peeled and diced
    • 100g smoked bacon, diced
    • 100g sausages, diced
    • 1 tablespoon flour
    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon majoram

    1. Cook the peas in their soaking water until tender, adding more water if necessary. Blend and push through a sieve. Return to the saucepan.
    2. Add carrots and potatoes and simmer.
    3. Heat two cups of water in a saucepan and add diced bacon. Simmer 15 minutes. Add to the peas with the sausage. Mix and simmer over low heat.
    4. Fry the flour and butter together in a small frypan and add to the pea soup. Season with salt, pepper, garlic and marjoram, simmer and serve.
