This is a cute recipe for the the romantic at heart. Two shortbread biscuits are sandwiched with a Nutella filling to create a sweat biscuit. Ideal food gift of love for Valentine's Day or Mother's Day.


Serves: 10 

  • 130g salted butter, softened
  • 80g icing sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 250g flour
  • Nutella, as required.

  1. Mix butter and sugar, then add the egg and combine. Add the sifted flour and knead to create a ball.
  2. Place the dough on a plastic sheet then place a second sheet on top. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin to a thickness of 2mm.
  3. Preheat oven to 200 degrees C.
  4. With a heart biscuit cutter about 10 cm in size, cut a heart. With a smaller heart shaped biscuit cutter create a smaller heart in the larger heart for half the biscuits.
  5. Bake shortbread between 5 and 10 minutes in the preheated oven, watching carefully. When the biscuits are done, let them cool.
  6. When the biscuits are cold, cover the full heart shortbread with a thin layer of Nutella. Place the shortbread with the hole on top.
