    Chicken wings are cheap and make wonderful chicken stock. You can just drink this as is for a clear chicken soup or use it in other recipes. Great if you have a cold.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 6 

    • 5 whole chicken wings
    • 8 cups (2 litres) cold water
    • 1 carrot, peeled
    • 1/4 onion, peeled
    • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
    • 3 sprigs parsley
    • salt, to taste

    1. Place the wings in a saucepan with the cold water and bring to a simmer. Simmer and skim foam until foam no longer rises.
    2. Add the carrot, onion, garlic and parsley. Reduce heat to a minimum and simmer 2 hours. Add salt to taste.
    3. Strain stock through a sieve or cheesecloth and discard solids. Store in the freezer until needed.
