This artisan bread is a low yeast, long rise type and the easiest loaf of bread you will ever make! Watch the technique in the Allrecipes No Knead Bread Video .


Makes: 1 loaf bread

  • 420g white bread flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry yeast
  • 350ml water

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Extra time:14hours rising  ›  Ready in:15hours 

  1. Combine all dry ingredients in a bowl, ensuring the salt and yeast are well mixed through. Add the water and mix until well combined.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rest at least 12 hours, but no longer than 24. The time will depend on the air temperature, around 21 degrees C is ideal.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Flatten into an oval then fold onto itself twice. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and let rest 15 minutes.
  4. Shape the dough into a ball, cover with a tea towel and let rise 2 hours.
  5. Place a heavy lidded casserole dish in the oven and preheat the oven to 230 degrees C.
  6. Carefully place the dough in the hot casserole dish and cover with the lid. Bake 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake 15 more minutes. Cool on a rack.
