Christmas ham, is there anything better? It's super easy to make too, it just needs a simple glaze and basting with orange juice and champagne.
1 ham leg portion
cloves, as needed
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup honey
1 1/2 tablespoons mustard
1 cup orange juice
1 cup sweet champagne
- With a sharp knife, incise the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern and insert a clove at the corner of each diamond. In a bowl, mix together the butter, Worcestershire, honey and mustard.
- Place the ham in a buttered baking dish. Spread the honey mustard mixture over it. Drizzle with half the orange juice and half the champagne.
- Bake in a 180 degrees C oven for 2 hours, basting occasionally with the remaining juice and champagne.
- Once baked, serve on a platter decorated with pineapple rings, plums, cherries and peach slices, if you like.
