Caramel Apple

This is an easy caramel apple recipe. You can choose if you want to do whole apples or just slices (although I find there is much more wastage when using whole apples).

Serves: 4

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt, optional
  • 4 small apples

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min

  1. Mix the water and sugar together in a small saucepan then bring it to a boil over medium heat and let simmer until it turns a medium amber colour.
  2. Remove from heat then carefully pour in the cream while stirring. Continue to stir until it is smooth. Return it to heat if any lumps have formed, this will help melt them to get the smooth consistency.
  3. Stir in the butter the allow to cool for a few minutes and stir in the vanilla essence and salt if using.
  4. Dip the apples in whole or cut into slices and dip.
