A super easy tart with cooked caramel made from brown sugar apples. Designed to not look perfect, on the contrary, it should have a rustic feel. Ideal with scoop of ice cream.
1 puff pastry
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1-2 tablespoons slivered almonds
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Roll out the puff pastry on baking paper and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter with 2 tablespoons brown sugar, making a caramel. Add apples, cinnamon and vanilla then let the caramel cook until soft; for roughly 5-7 minutes.
- Let the apple mixture cool for 10 minutes then place in the center of the dough, leaving 2 cm free on the edge. Fold the edges inward to contain the apple mixture.
