    Makes: 24 whoopie pies

    • 1 packet Duncan Hines(TM) devils food cake mix
    • 100g butter, softened
    • 100g cream cheese, at room temperature
    • zest of 1 orange
    • 2 cups icing sugar
    • 100g dark cooking chocolate
    • 1/4 cup thickened cream
    • 25g butter

    Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:45min

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C (350 F).
    2. Grease a round-bottomed whoopie pie tin (see pic) or use patty cases.
    3. Make cake mix as per directions on box.
    4. Drop about a tablespoon of mix into each hole or 1/2 fill patty pans. You should get 48 pieces, making 24 whoopie pies.
    5. Cook about 10 minutes for tins, 15 minutes for patty pans, until a skewer comes out clean. Cool.
    6. With an electric mixer, beat together butter, cream cheese and zest.
    7. Add icing sugar 1/2 cup at a time. Beat until smooth.
    8. Evenly distribute the orange filling over 24 bottoms. Cover each with a top.
    9. Melt the chocolate, cream and butter in a heatproof bowl over a pot of boiling water, stirring until smooth. Cool slightly.
    10. Using a teaspoon, cover tops with chocolate.

Can be made with your own chocolate cake recipe as well, I just find this particular cake mix really moist and it keeps well.
