Very Orange Jelly Slice With Chocolate

    You've never had a slice that tastes like this before. Chocolate and orange, what more could you ask for? A yummy slice with an orange flavoured base, layer of chocolate then a creamy orange flavoured centre with orange jelly on top. One of my creations.

    Serves: 8 

    • Base
    • 1 packet marie or milk arrowroot biscuits, crushed
    • 125g butter, melted
    • 1/2 can condensed milk
    • zest of 1 orange (save the juice for the jelly)
    • 3/4 cup coconut
    • 1st layer
    • 200g dark cooking chocolate
    • 25g butter
    • 1/4 cup thickened cream
    • 2nd layer
    • 1 1/2 cans condensed milk
    • juice and zest of 1 large orange
    • 90ml boiling water
    • 3 teaspoons gelatin powder
    • Jelly layer
    • 2 packets orange jelly
    • 2 teaspoons gelatin powder
    • 500ml boiling water
    • juice from saved orange made up to 400ml with cold water

    1. Line 9 x 13 dish with baking paper.
    2. Mix the biscuits, 125g butter, 1/2 can condensed milk, zest and coconut together and press into bottom of dish. Refrigerate while melting chocolate.
    3. Melt the chocolate, 25g butter and cream together in a heatproof bowl over a pot of boiling water, stirring until smooth. Spread evenly over base. Refrigerate until set.
    4. Mix 1 1/2 cans condensed milk and zest and juice of 1 orange together.
    5. Mix boiling water and gelatin together, stirring till clear, then combine it with the condensed milk/orange mix. Pour evenly over chocolate layer and refrigerate until set.
    6. Mix jelly and gelatin together with the boiling water, stirring until clear, then add the saved orange juice and cold water. Refrigerate for 1 1/2 hours.
    7. Pour over top of slice and refrigerate until set.
