Mexican Potato Pie

Just right for a cold winter's night.

Serves: 6 

  • 2 kg steak mince
  • 750g Heinz(TM) golden mix (peas, corn, onion, celery and capsicum)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced
  • 2 jars Dolmio(TM) Spicy Peppers spaghetti sauce
  • 1/2 - 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons chilli powder
  • 2 kg mashed potato
  • 1 cup grated tasty cheese

Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:50min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. In a large saucepan brown then drain mince.
  3. In same saucepan saute vegies and garlic until just cooked. Add meat back to saucepan.
  4. Add spaghetti sauce, water, tomato sauce, tomato paste, salt and chilli powder. Mix well and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Tip into large deep baking pan.
  6. Cover with potato and sprinkle with cheese. Cook until cheese is melted and golden brown.
  7. Serve with corn chips, sour cream and avocado.
