Curried Lamb Kebabs

    Lovely lamb kebabs with an unusual marinade of onion, poppy seeds and spices. The yoghurt helps tenderise the lamb. I like this with barbecued onions.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 1/2 kg lamb, cut into 2cm cubes
    • 1 onion, grated
    • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
    • 2 teaspoons ground ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    • 1 teaspoon turmeric
    • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
    • 200g plain yoghurt

    1. In a food processor combine onion, poppy seeds, ginger, nutmeg, turmeric and garam masala until pureed.
    2. Mix the lamb, spice puree and yoghurt in a bowl. Cover and marinate overnight in the fridge.
    3. Thread the lamb onto skewers. Barbecue about 5 minutes or until golden brown. Don't overcook!
