Easy Jamaican Goat Curry

Goat curry is very popular in Jamaica where it is particularly spicy. You can add as much curry powder as you can handle! Serve with plain rice.

Serves: 10

  • 5 kg goat meat, cubed
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 teaspoon chilli flakes
  • 3/4 cup curry powder
  • 4 spring onions, diced
  • 1 large onion, diced

Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:3hours  ›  Extra time:2hours marinating  ›  Ready in:5hours20min

  1. Rinse the meat and pat dry. Place in a large heavy casserole dish and sprinkle with salt. Work the salt into the meat with your hands.
  2. Add the chilli flakes and curry powder, a little at a time, rubbing into the meat. Add the spring onions and onion and knead in briefly. Cover and let stand 2 hours.
  3. Do not add water. Place the casserole on the stove, cover and bring to a boil - the meat will give up a lot of water. Cook, stirring occasionally, 2-3 hours.
