Maple Syrup Easter Biscuits

    Very simple and sweet little Easter biscuits, a bit like shortbread in technique and texture. Sprinkle with sugar before cooling.

    Makes: 20 biscuits

    • 150g butter, softened
    • 40g caster sugar
    • ` 1 tablespoon maple syrup
    • 180g plain flour, sifted
    • caster sugar, for sprinkling

    1. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees C and line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
    2. Beat the butter with the sugar and maple syrup until light and smooth. Stir in the flour until just combined.
    3. Roll out the dough and cut into biscuits with a small round cutter. Place on the baking tray and bake 20-30 minutes or until just starting to colour. Remove, sprinkle with caster sugar and let cool.
