In a mixing bowl cream together margarine, brown sugar and white sugar. Stir in the egg and vanilla. In a separate bowl combine the flour, bicarb soda and salt then stir into the batter until evenly moistened.
Stir in the nuts and chocolate chips. Drop by heaping spoonfuls onto ungreased baking trays.
Bake for 8 minutes in the preheated oven until the edges are light brown.
