Easy Vietnamese Dipping Sauce (Nuoc Cham)

The classic Vietnamese dipping sauce, nuoc cham is a must when serving spring rolls. Watch this recipe being made in the Allrecipes Vietnamese Dipping Sauce Video.


Serves: 4 

  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 2 bird's eye (Thai) chillies, stems removed
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 4 tablespoons warm water
  • 4 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1 small carrot, cut into thin strips

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:20min 

  1. In a mortar and pestle, pound together the garlic and chillies. Add the sugar, lime juice, vinegar, water and fish sauce. Whisk together until sugar is dissolved. Just before serving, a some carrot strips for colour.
