Amazing Flame Grilled Lean Beef Burger

    30 minutes

My version of a gourmet burger, created after I developed an addiction to Grill'd! The melted cheese adds great flavour, and you can add whatever salads you prefer. I keep things simple with lettuce, tomato and onion.

    Makes: 6 burgers

    • 400g lean beef mince
    • 1 Roma tomato, cut into slices
    • 1 egg
    • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1 teaspoon salt and pepper seasoning
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • sprinking of dried basil
    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • 4 slices of low fat cheese
    • dash of olive oil
    • pack of 4 multigrain bun burgers
    • 1/2 head of cos lettuce
    • mustard to taste
    • tomato ketchup to taste
    • half an onion

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:30min

    1. Mix the beef, egg, salt and pepper, paprika, breadcrumbs, basil, Worcestershire sauce and oil into a mixing bowl. Mix until combine, and then separate into 4 - 6 round patties, depending on size preference. Remember patties will shrink a bit on the flame grill. Place in the fridge for 10 - 20 minutes to set.
    2. Cook the patties and onion over a flame grill for about 10 minutes or until cooked, turning when necessary. When the patties are nearly ready, put a slice of cheese on top while still on the heat, and cook for about 4-5 minutes or until the cheese has melted onto the pattie.
    3. Remove the patties and onion from the grill and assemble the burger with lettuce, tomato and onion, adding the mustard and ketchup on top of the pattie.

For a juicier burger you can use full fat mince, but I prefer to keep it healthy
