Frangelico Chocolate Cake

    A deeply rich chocolate cake for the adults! You can use other liqueurs too, Amaretto and Grand Marnier work well too.

    Serves: 10 

    • 125g dark chocolate, chopped
    • 150g butter
    • 3 eggs
    • 1/3 cup caster sugar
    • 1/3 cup plain flour
    • 1 cup almond meal
    • 1/3 cup Frangelico(TM)

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:50min 

    1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees C.
    2. Place the chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat and stir until smooth. Place the eggs, sugar, flour, almonds, Frangelico and chocolate mixture in a bowl and stir well.
    3. Pour the batter into a 20cm cake tin that has been lined with baking paper. Bake 30 minutes or until it tests done.

    So rich and moist! It was such a hit. A wonderful cake and so easy to make. I added my own touch by spreading a layer of choc hazelnut spread on the completely cooled cake and sprinkled over that a handful of slightly crushed roasted hazelnuts on top. I served it with 600ml of cream which I whipped til stiff and to which I had added a dessert spoon of caster sugar and a tablespoon of Frangelico. And then we all floated away to seventh heaven  -  24 Dec 2016
