Chinese broccoli, also known as kai-lan, is a delicious vegetable and here it is served with salted black beans and garlic. Salted black beans are available in Chinese shops.

Serves: 2 

  • 2 bunches Chinese broccoli
  • 100g softened butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons salted black beans
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • juice of 1/2 lemon

  1. Wash and trim Chinese broccoli of all large leaves. Steam for 3-4 minutes. Top with black bean butter.
  2. Black Bean Butter:

  3. Wash and drain the black beans. Cream together with the butter, garlic, salt, pepper and lemon juice.
