    Serves: 4

    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 1 cup granulated white sugar, sifted
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sifted (I prefer Hershey's)
    • 3/4 cup plain flour, sifted
    • a pinch of salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder, sifted
    • semisweet chocolate chips (optional)

    Preparation:25min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:50min

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C (350 F). Grease and flour a 20cm (8 inch) square pan.
    2. In a double boiler, melt the butter.
    3. Remove the butter from heat and pour it in a medium bowl. Sift and stir in the unsweetened cocoa powder and granulated white sugar.
    4. Beat in the eggs and stir in the batter one at a time.
    5. Add a pinch of salt, vanilla extract, baking powder and sifted plain flour. Fold the batter and mix it well.
    6. Add the semisweet chocolate chips into the batter and mix well (this will make the brownies more chocolatey as some chips will melt inside the brownies but this is just an option).
    7. Spread the batter into prepared pan.
    8. Put some chocolate chips on the top of the batter to make it more presentable. (This is just optional.)
    9. Bake it in preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the skewer inserted into the middle of the brownies comes out clean. Do not overcook.
    10. Remove from the pan and put it in a wire rack. Let it cool before slicing.
