My Swiss German Nanna gave me this recipe - it's a yearly tradition to go down to the markets in summer and buy all the stone fruits to make this. It makes a lot of muesli so it's great to share with family.

MortarandPestle Western Australia, Australia

Serves: 12

  • 45g dates, dried
  • 2-3 medium apricots
  • 2 medium peaches
  • 2 small nectarines
  • 3 plums
  • 50g sultanas
  • 2 small bananas
  • 2 apples (green or red variety)
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced in half
  • 1/2 cup almonds, sliced
  • 2 dried figs
  • 45g coconut, descciated
  • 2 cups oats
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Preparation:25min  ›  Extra time:8hours soaking  ›  Ready in:8hours25min

  1. Soak oats in milk and set aside to soften (can be overnight).
  2. Dice up all the stone fruit into small pieces - about 1-2cm maximum.
  3. Cut up the dates, bananas and figs into small pieces and add to mix.
  4. Add coconut, salt, honey and the softened oats. Mix well until all combined and sprinkle with brown sugar to taste.
  5. Can serve immediately but it does taste better the next day.

This has no preservatives so only has a 3-5 day fridge life. I sometimes half the recipe which covers a week of breakfasts. You can swap out the strawberries with any other berry.
