Cut a hole in the bread. This can be done with a biscuit cutter, glass or similar.
Heat the hotplate to medium temperature then rub down with oil. Add the bread separately; slice and hole. Crack the egg into the hole.
Cook until you can see the egg is firm on bottom; about 3 minutes. Flip the bread with the egg in it onto the other side to finish cooking; about 2 minutes. Serve. (Cook longer if you like your eggs to be hard in the middle).
