Cooked Cabbage

    Simple side dish of cabbage, the way my mum used to make it. Sauteed in butter with a bit of garlic, salt and white pepper. Make too much, or you will run out.

    Serves: 4 

    • 60g butter
    • 1 large head cabbage, shredded
    • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
    • salt to taste
    • white pepper, to taste

    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. In a frying pan over medium high, melt butter. Add in the cabbage and garlic then cook until cabbage begins to wilt. Season with salt and white pepper. Serve.

    This was delicious - quick, easy and very tasty. I covered the pan as it cooked so it partly steamed but I was very pleased with it - a good alternative to Lois Daish's Butter-steamed cabbage and to the Countdown recipe with red and white cabbage (with garlic and olive oil).  -  07 Apr 2018
