Chocolate Walnut Brownies

    Melted chocolate and chopped walnuts combined to make decadent chocolate brownies. I have also offered a variation for black and white layered brownies.

    Makes: 36 brownies

    • 130g dark chocolate
    • 80g butter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 cup (220g) sugar
    • 1/2 cup (60g) plain flour, sifted
    • 1/2 cup (60g) chopped walnuts or pecans
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a 23x23cm tin. Line with greaseproof paper.
    2. Melt chocolate and butter together. Beat eggs with sugar until fluffy. Add chocolate mix. Stir in flour then blend well. Add nuts, vanilla and salt. Stir until well mixed.
    3. Spread batter into prepared tin. Garnish with extra nuts, if desired. Bake for 25 minutes. Cool in the tin, turn out then remove paper. Cut into bars.

    Black and White Brownies

    Halve the amount of chocolate and add it, melted, to half of the batter. Spread with batter in a layer then pour over the chocolate layer. Spread evenly.
