This simple bread and butter pudding recipe is a classic. Using eggs, milk and buttered bread, with a sprinkle of dried fruit, this yummy pudding is ready in no time.

Serves: 4 

  • 3 slices of bread, buttered
  • 60-90g dried fruit
  • 2 eggs
  • 40g sugar
  • 360ml milk

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:55min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Cut bread and butter. Place in a pie dish. Add dried fruit.
  3. Beat eggs and sugar then pour in warmed milk. Strain over the bread. Bake until just firm and set then move to the top of the oven to crisp.


Add 60g peel and grate on nutmeg before cooking.

I live on my own and this is a good size recipe for a couple of nights. I added a quarter teaspoon of rum essence. Very very nice and warming on cold winter nights - 06 Aug 2016
