- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup rewena (potato bug)
- warm water, to bind
- oil or lard for frying
Directions
Preparation:15min › Cook:15min › Ready in:30min
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar and salt then stir in the rewena. Mix well with enough warm water to make a scone like dough.
- Heat the oil or lard in a deep wok or frying pan. Roll the dough into small balls then flatten. Fry in the hot oil until cooked through.
- Serve with golden syrup.
Rewena
Rewena is leaving for that you make out of potato and feed daily, like a sour dough starter. It is used in Maori breads.
