Bacon Baked Tarakihi

White fish fillets slow baked with bacon, onion and mushroom for a delicious meal. Serve with your favourite style potatoes or rice.

Serves: 6 

  • 4 rashers bacon, diced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/4 onion, diced
  • 1kg tarakihi fillets
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

  1. Preheat oven ton 150 degrees C. Lightly spray a baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. In the baking dish layer in the bacon, mushroom then onion. Season tarakihi fillets with salt and pepper then place on top.
  3. Brush the fish with the melted butter then bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, until fish is no longer translucent and flakes easily with a fork.


Tarakihi is a white fish found in NZ. You can use hoki, cod or any other white fish if you prefer.
