Orange and Walnut Fried Hoki

A small white fish fillet crumbed in walnuts and orange rind then fried until crispy and delicious. Goes great served with mashed potatoes.

Serves: 4 

  • 500g hoki fillets
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 30g walnuts, finely diced
  • 1 orange rind, grated
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tablespoons oil, for frying

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Season the hoki fillets with salt and pepper. Mix together the walnuts, orange rind and bread crumbs then place on a plate.
  2. Dip each fillet into the egg then press into the breadcrumb mixture.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat then fry the fish until cooked through and golden brown on each side.


Hoki fillets are available in NZ and can be substituted with cod or any white fish.
